Mike is one of Hood’s owners along with Melanie Frean and Rob Davidson. Rob is the restaurant manager and oversees the restaurant operations and you will regularly find him onsite, working on the floor or behind the bar.
Hood opened in February 2015 following a true family and friend’s effort to restore a tired Edwardian property back into use as a vibrant restaurant and bar serving the Streatham community. Hood was founded by siblings Melanie and Robin Frean. Robin has since left South London to return to the sunny Sussex coast but remains in the extended Hood family as our wine consultant. You can follow him on Instagram at @Freanovino.
In 2021 we refreshed our interiors. After six years of being open, we have grown up a bit and our new interior style reflects that. Working with Shoni Wilkinson, we have kept the exposed brick walls, original Edwardian panelling and our signature blue but added warm metallics and cool greys with artwork from local artists Alixe Bovey and Krystal Wong. Other features include an art deco inspired bar, restored dumb waiter and our stunning copper leaf sign inside the front window.
